As it was the awards 30Th birthday, there were a few additional statues up for grabs this time round, including best performance at the Brits which was won by the Spice girls, only 2 were there thank God, even better they didn't sing again.
The next vocally challenged band to be honoured for best album in the awards history were Oasis for 'What's the story morning glory'. Again only one of the 4 could make it,
Noel probably had better things to do and who were the other 2 anyway. Well Liam thanked those 2, I forget who they are again, Liam however deliberately forgot to mention his Brother Noel, yes, Noel, the guy that wrote all the words and music for his Brother to completely murder as soon as he got a mic in his hand. I think he was confused tonight as he had the award in one hand and a mic in the other decided he didn't want either and threw them both off stage towards the crowd. Cue Peter Kay with the finest description I have ever heard for Gallagher, "Knobhead" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkPDNoO8ZJU

Shirley Bassey who won Best British female artist in 1977 presented this years award to Lily
Allen. She had decided to wear a bright orange wig so the cameras couldn't find her in the crowd capturing her expected disappointment at not winning AGAIN. A few well chosen Lily Allen lyrics later and almost forgetting her award it was off to 'Have a drink' to celebrate finally winning something.

After picking up Best International Male, Jayzee dueted with Alicia keys and it was absolutely fantastic as they performed their excellent hit Empire state of mind. Best British album winner Florence and the machine dueted without the same effect, but then Dizzy Rascal is no Jayzee is he now. I was dizzy with disbelief when he picked up Best British Male solo artist beating Calvin Harris, Mika, Paulo Nutini and Robbie Williams, any of those deserve the award more. The only other bigger surprise was Joe McEledry's nomination for Best British single, or were they referring to the fact he has no girlfriend/Boyfriend?

Faux pas's of the night went to lead singer of Kasabian who fell over in his eagerness to collect Best British band, Jonathan Ross dressed as a teenager and an under par performance from Peter Kay capped off by embarrassingly comparing JLS to a all black male Bucks Fizz.
All in all it was a pretty low key event with few highlights, with the exception of Lady GaGa,
Jayzee, Florence and the machine which unfortunately included Dizzy Rascals awful interference. The truly outstanding performance of the evening was by Robbie Williams who fittingly won the 'Outstanding contribution award', taking his total number of Brits to a staggering 15.

He sang hits spanning 20 years which included a Take That song that wasn't witnessed by his former band mates as they chose to boycott the ceremony. This was Robbie's night and he was the real entertainer at the Brits 2010. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc6mQQbKlUE
